SHOOTING FOR SOCRATES is a sporting drama following the Northern Ireland football team in the 1986 World Cup finals in Mexico.

Language

There is occasional use of mild bad language, including 'shite', 'shit', 'bullshit', 'ass', 'arse', 'frigging', 'bloody', 'bastards', 'sod' and 'bugger'.

Threat

There are infrequent scenes depicting rioting on the streets of Belfast during the 1980s, including petrol bombs, glass bottles and stones being thrown at armoured personnel carriers and a man being dragged through the streets. These sequences do not clearly depict individual moments of violence but create an impression of civil unrest during the period.

There is a passing very mild sex reference when a Brazilian footballer describes his countrymen as being 'lovers' who will 'romance' women.

There is also a scene of very mild comic violence in which a football coach kicks his assistant in the shin to make a point, although the contact occurs below frame.
