SHAANDAAR is a Hindi language comedy musical about a young woman who dreams of escape with her prince, a man who happens to be the wedding planner of her sister's grand wedding.
- Sex
There are moderate sex references in a scene where a man misbehaves on a pole dancing stage with scantily clad female dancers around him. He begins to undress but the scene is brief and without nudity. A song also includes Hindi lyrics mentioning men's 'trouser snakes' and 'what you've got down there'.
- Threat
There is some moderate comic threat when a character waves a gun around and shoots it in the air and when a boy shoots an arrow at a dead matriarch character who is slumped in her armchair. The woman's corpse is unrealistically immolated as a result of the arrow being fired.
- Language
There is a scene in which an old woman raises a middle finger towards the traffic behind her on a road. There is also use of mild bad language (eg 'shit', 'God', 'prat').
There is a sequence in which members of a wedding party start to act strangely after eating some brownies and mushrooms, but there is no mention of what they may have consumed.
Cuts information
Distributor chose to remove drug use and references in order to achieve a 12A classification (in this instance, verbal and visual detail indicating pleasure in drug use). Cuts made in accordance with BBFC Guidelines and policy. A 15 without cuts was available.
