SECONDS is a 1966 drama about a middle-aged man who undergoes a process to change his life by being given a new appearance and identity.
- Nudity
During a festival to celebrate a wine harvest, men and women remove their clothing to dance and climb into a large vat to tread grapes. Over the duration of a long scene there are frequent shots of breast, buttock and genital nudity. Although no obvious sexual activity takes place, there is a sexualised aspect to the nudity.
- Threat
A sense of threat runs through the film and is most clearly felt in a scene in which a character is restrained to a trolley being wheeled into an operating theatre. The character becomes aware of the danger to him and thrashes around in futile protest. The scene is sustained, intense and unsettling.
There is also some brief bloody surgical detail.
