THE SEARCH is a war drama about the relationship that develops between a displaced Chechen boy and a French NGO worker during the Second Chechen War.

Violence

A character is inducted into the Russian army and is seen being head-butted and then repeatedly kicked by his commanding officer, with strong bloody impact detail. There is also a scene in which a soldier is coerced into beating up a colleague as two soldiers laugh whilst watching the incident. There are bloody shootings and war violence throughout, including sight of explosions and gunfire.

Injury detail

There is frequent sight of corpses, some of which are shown in a partially decayed state with blood and injury detail visible.

Language

There is frequent use of strong language, such as 'f**k' and 'motherf**ker'.

There are references to oral sex.

There are uses of discriminatory language, such as 'faggot', as well as discriminatory remarks made about the Chechen people by Russian characters.
