SAMMY'S GREAT ESCAPE is an animated feature about Sammy the turtle. Sammy and several underwater friends are captured and taken to a giant aquarium off the Arabian peninsula. Babies Ricky and Ella are separated from the adults and find themselves out in the ocean. They go looking for the adults, who in turn are working on an escape plan. The film is rated U with mild threat.

As the baby turtles explore the ocean, there are some sequences where they come under threat, such as when they are chased by some barracuda with large teeth. However, the threat is mild, and the chase does not go on for too long before the babies are safe again. The film as a whole features lots of comedy and there are a number of colourful musical sequences, so the general tone of the film is upbeat. Other threatening moments include a scene where Sammy is captured by some nasty eel characters, who tie him up, but he is soon rescued by a friend. There is also a scene where a lobster watches some humans eating a lobster dinner and is horrified by this, but the lobster is a comic character and his reactions are more likely to be found funny by younger viewers.

The film also features some very mild language, including 'butt', 'darn', 'numbnuts' and 'nutjob'.

U stands for Universal, which means that we think the film is suitable for audiences aged four or older.

Cuts information

Distributor chose to remove a use of mild bad language in order to achieve a U classification. At U, only infrequent use of very mild bad language is allowed. Cut made in line with BBFC Guidelines and policy. An uncut PG was available.
