RESIDENT EVIL 6 is the latest instalment in the series of third person horror games about a zombie attack. In this edition the player assumes the role of a number of different characters, each with a partner, travelling through the same story-line but from different perspectives. It was classified '18' for strong violence and gore.
The game builds upon previous editions but with a new breed of more intelligent enemy. The player-character can melee attack the zombies and other opponents, including stamping on heads and crushing them into a mess of blood and gore. Weapons used include guns, grenades and a knife. Bullets and knives produce bloodspurts from opponents with a focus on the blood-letting. Cutscenes include occasional slow motion views of deaths and bloodsprays. In one sequence a zombie loses the top of its skull with some brain matter visible. The BBFC's Guidelines at '15' state 'Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable'. This game contains strong gore and a dwelling on the infliction of violence that is more appropriately classified at '18'.
The game also includes some moderate and mild bad language, including uses of 'bitch', 'son of a bitch' and 'bastard'.
