RED WHITE & BLUE is an American drama about an emotionally damaged young woman who seeks solace in the beds of strangers but whose casual attitude to sex has dire consequences for one of her lovers. When the woman goes missing, her only friend turns to violence in his search for the truth. The film was classified '18' for strong sex, sustained threat and sadistic bloody violence.

The film contains several strong sex scenes as the young woman sleeps with her various lovers. These scenes include sight of the men thrusting into the woman as she lies on a bed with her breasts exposed. In another scene a man performs cunnilingus on his partner. There are no explicit images of sexual activity and genital detail is always masked by the positioning of the actors' bodies. However, the frequency and length of these strong sex scenes goes beyond what is permissible at '15' under the BBFC Guidelines which state 'Sexual activity may be portrayed without strong detail'.

RED WHITE & BLUE also includes scenes in which a character captures, ties up and threatens an innocent woman and child in order to extract information from another restrained man. There is strong sustained threat to the man, woman and child, with extended terrorisation of the young child as she is asked repeatedly if she would prefer to live without her parents or die alongside them. This scene, and others, in which the character torments his victims as he prepares to kill them exceeds the terms of the Guidelines at '15' which state 'Strong threat and menace are permitted unless sadistic or sexualised'.

There are also several scenes of strong and sadistic bloody violence. These include the killer twisting his knife in an open stomach wound, the suffocation of a man after tape has been wrapped round his entire head, and a scene in which the skin on a man's head is peeled off, leaving the gory flesh and skull exposed. Although such scenes are infrequent, they breach the Guidelines at '15' which state 'Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable. Strong sadistic or sexualised violence is also unlikely to be acceptable'.

The film also contains multiple uses of strong language and four uses of very strong language. The four uses of very strong language occur in written form during the end credits of the film, when a band titled ‘The C****’ are listed as providing some of the soundtrack.
