THE RAID is an Indonesian action drama about a SWAT team's disastrous attempts to take over a gangster-controlled apartment block in the city. The film was classified '18' for frequent strong bloody violence and gore.
There is frequent strong bloody violence and gore as guns, axes and machetes are used regularly in the many fast-paced fight scenes. Strong scenes include sight of a man being axed in the chest, a man being shot in the head in close up, a close up of the tip of a knife emerging from the side of a man's neck after a stabbing, and the use of a broken light tube to stab a man in the neck then later, as it is still embedded in the man's neck, it is dragged across his throat to kill him. The level of violence and accompanying bloody detail, with a certain amount of sadism, goes beyond what is permitted by the BBFC's Guidelines at '15' where 'Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable'.
The film also contains one use of very strong language, as well as more than 60 uses of strong language.
