THE PURGE is a horror thriller set in the future in which the US government sanctions a 12 hour period once a year in which all crimes, including murder, are allowed.

Language

The film contains uses of strong language ('f**k' and motherf***er') and some milder bad language (eg 'swine', 'son of a bitch').

Violence

There is a scene in which a woman is shot, resulting in a blood splatter as she flies backwards, and sight of an axe landing in another man. There is also sight of a man being stabbed in the stomach, with a close shot of the knife being stabbed in and pulled out, with bloody detail. In one scene, a woman's face is bashed with a rifle butt and then slammed against a glass table, resulting in bloody injury.

There is also some moderate threat and sex references.
