POPULAIRE is a subtitled French language romantic comedy set in the late 1950s in which a young woman, who is a self-taught typist, dreams of becoming a secretary.

Sex

In one scene a couple kiss and the man positions himself between the woman's legs as she lies back on a bed. There is brief nudity, but no sight of thrusting. The film also contains some mild verbal sex references, mainly to 'going to bed'.

There is a comic scene of mild violence in which a man punches another man, and a scene in which a man rapidly stabs a knife between his spread fingers in order to entertain two children. It is implied that he has injured himself when we see his hand is bandaged, but nothing is seen on screen.

There is some subtitled mild bad language, including uses of 'dammit', 'God', 'hell', 'jerk' and 'shit'.

The film contains scenes of smoking throughout, reflecting the period in which it is set.
