PHOENIX is a German language drama about a woman returning to her old life after facial reconstruction surgery following her imprisonment in a concentration camp during WWII.

Language

There is a single use of moderate bad language (‘bitch’).

There are infrequent references to a suicide by shooting, although the event itself occurs off screen. There are occasional references to the Holocaust, as well as a scene in which a woman looks through a magnifying glass at a black and white photograph of charred bodies in a mass grave, with the glass partially distorting the image. In keeping with the period setting, there are also frequent scenes of characters smoking cigarettes.
