PHILOMENA is a British drama, based on a true story, in which a journalist helps a woman search for her long-lost son, taken from her by Catholic nuns in the 1950s and given to an affluent American couple.

Language

There are two uses of strong language ('f**k'). Milder language includes the terms 'bloody', 'crap'; 'fecking', 'shit', 'shite' and 'tits'.

Sex

The moderate sex references include a nun asking a young woman, "Did you let him put his hands on you? Did you take your knickers down?", a woman recounting her first sexual experience and saying, "I enjoyed it... I was floating on air. I didn't even know I had a clitoris" and a woman observing, "Because some of them wouldn't wear condoms. It spoiled the feeling."
