THE PERVERT'S GUIDE TO IDEOLOGY is a lecture by philosopher Slavoj Zizek about how different ideologies are portrayed and explored in films. It is rated 15 for very strong language, and strong violence, nudity and sex references.

The very strong language ('c**t') and some of the strong violence occurs in clips from Martin Scorsese's TAXI DRIVER. The character Travis Bickle describes himself as "a man who would not take it any more... Who stood up against the c**ts". In a separate scene, we see him shooting a man's fingers off with a large spurt of blood, then more blood as he is shot in the neck and shoots someone else in the chest. Excerpts also include sexual dialogue relating to a young prostitute, but this lacks detail which features in the film itself.

The suicide of a soldier in the film FULL METAL JACKET is shown, with sight of the man shooting himself in the mouth, resulting in a large splatter on the wall behind him. There is also an orgy sequence from ZABRISKIE POINT in which naked couples are shown rolling around, but without strong detail. The crucifixion scene from THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST, with masked hammering of nails into Jesus's hand as some blood spurts out, is also seen.

As well as the film excerpts, this documentary features some real life documentary images, including footage of the immediate aftermath of Anders Breivik's killing spree in Norway, showing some bloody bodies on the floor and in the water. However, their faces are blurred and there is no prolonged dwelling on images of the victims. There is also a series of stills showing US soldiers abusing prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison, including sight of naked prisoners.

No-one younger than 15 may see a 15 rated film in the cinema. No-one younger than 15 may rent or buy a 15 rated video or DVD.
