ONLY THE BRAVE is a US drama, based on the true story of the 2013 Yarnell Hill Fire in Arizona, in which a team of firefighters battle a dangerous blaze.

Threat

Firefighters tackle dangerous wildfires, resulting in occasional sequences of moderate threat. More prolonged and intense threat occurs when a team of firefighters are fatally trapped by a wall of flames. There is no on-screen death or serious injury.

Drugs

There are infrequent scenes of drug misuse in addition to multiple verbal references to drug addiction. The film as a whole does not condone drug misuse.

Theme

In scenes of moderate intensity, people grieve after learning of the deaths of their loved-ones.

Language

There is infrequent use of strong language ('f**k'). Milder terms include 'bitch', 'shit', 'tits', 'ass', 'asshole', 'dick', 'piss', 'balls' and 'bastard'. There is also infrequent use of the rude 'middle finger' gesture.

Infrequent moderate sex references include a scene in which a man persuades a woman to say something 'nasty' to him over the phone; we do not hear her response. A man describes 'hooking up' with a woman, claiming she 'went medieval' on him. Another woman is described as a 'World-class piece of ass'.

Other issues include brief sight of a moderately bloody puncture wound after a man is bitten by a snake. There are infrequent mild visual and verbal references to animal cruelty, when a rescued horse is shown with healing scrapes on its body. There are also brief images of a severed tail after a rattlesnake is killed off-screen; the images are not bloody or gory. Another scene contains brief rear nudity when a man 'moons' his colleagues.
