ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI is a Hindi crime thriller set in the Mumbai underworld of the 1970s, as a Mafia don deals with romance and rivalry. The film was classified '12A' for moderate violence and gore.

The film contains a number of scenes of moderate violence. Punches, kicks and blows with sticks and rods are seen during various fight scenes but none reveal much detail. The BBFC's Guidelines at '12A'/'12' state that 'Moderate violence is allowed but should not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood'.

There is one gory image, when the male protagonist is shot down by his rival. There is brief sight of a bloody impact to his chest and subsequent sight of blood dripping down his white shirt as he falls. The Guidelines at '12A'/'12' allow for 'occasional gory moments [...] if justified by the context'. This is an important moment in the narrative and doesn't focus unduly on the blood.

The film also contains mild language (eg Hindi and English uses of 'bastard').
