NEIL YOUNG - JOURNEYS is a documentary about the Canadian singer as he returns to his home town. It is rated PG for mild language and archive footage of protest violence.

During a performance of the song 'Ohio', a protest song about the fatal shooting of four students during a protest at Kent State University in 1970, archive footage is shown of the protests, including a person being beaten with a baton and the sound of gunfire. However, the victims of the shooting by the US National Guard are not seen.

Mild language is occasionally used, including 'ass' and 'shit'. There are also verbal references to drug use in song lyrics, including 'smoking grass while the Summer passed' and 'a little cocaine'. Some of these lyrics feature in a song about the dangers of drug abuse and there is no encouragement to use illegal drugs.

As Young tells anecdotes from his childhood, these include references to seeing his father perform on stage in a minstrels show where other performers where 'in black face', and Young claims that as a child, 'I think I killed a turtle by sticking a firecracker up it ass'. Young acknowledges that the act is surprising, given that he became a keen environmentalist.

PG stands for Parental Guidance. A PG film should not disturb a child aged around eight or older. However, parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger or more sensitive children.
