NADER AND SIMIN, A SEPARATION is an Iranian drama, in Persian with English subtitles. After Nader and Simin, a married couple, decide to separate, Nader takes on a carer, Razieh, to help him with his ill and elderly father. When he and Razieh fall out, there are terrible consequences which bring everyone's emotions to the fore. The film was classified 'PG' for mild language.

The BBFC's Guidelines at 'PG' state there may be 'Mild bad language only'. The film contains a number of uses of mild language, including 'pissed off', 'ass', 'jerk', 'shit' and 'hell'.

In several scenes, people lose their tempers and aggressively shove one another. However, the aggression never quite erupts into violence. There is also some discussion of potentially difficult issues, including miscarriage and domestic abuse. However, there is no depiction of these issues and the problematic themes are handled in a sensitive and discreet manner.
