MUD is a US drama in which two boys encounter a fugitive killer who they agree to help. The film is rated 12 for moderate violence and sex references.

In one scene several men are shot and a man is struck in the face with the butt of a shotgun. The shootings result in a couple of brief bloody bullet impacts. After the shoot-out, a police officer looks down at a body lying on its back in a pool of blood. There is blood on the corpse's chest but no discernible injury detail. In another scene a young woman is knocked about and subsequently threatened with a knife by a man who is looking for her boyfriend.

The film also includes some moderate sex references. These include juvenile comments about women's 'titties' and an older man advising a youth to 'get his tip wet'. In one scene a young woman storms out of a house, followed by a man who is protesting that "A lot of people are comfortable with that kind of thing in the bedroom". There is no further explanation of what has been going on. In another scene the two boys discover a pile of Penthouse magazines, although there is no clear nudity on the covers. One of the youths thumbs through the magazines. Although he says to his friend, "You've gotta see this", nothing is actually shown.

There is some mild bad language, including uses of 'ass', 'bullshit', 'Jesus', shit' and 'son of a bitch'. The fugitive character smokes cigarettes from time to time.

No-one younger than 12 may see a 12A film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult. No-one younger than 12 may rent or buy a 12 rated video or DVD.
