THE MIDWIFE is a French drama in which a devoted midwife finds her orderly life turned upside down by the arrival of her late father's ex-lover.

Nudity

A bare breasted woman sits on a bed as she cradles her lover's head in her lap.

Injury detail

There is a close-up image of a long surgical incision being made across a pregnant woman's belly during an emergency Caesarian.

Other issues include several scenes of child birth, with women moaning and panting during labour before babies emerge from between their raised legs. One labour results in a still birth and there are some emotional scenes as the midwife tries to revive the baby. There are also some verbal references to a man taking his own life by shooting himself in the chest. Mild bad language includes uses of 'shit', 'ass' and 'screwed'.
