MARSHALL is a US biographical drama about the early career of the first ever African-American Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall, as he fights to clear a man accused of rape.

Violence

There are frequent verbal references to rape throughout, as well as a flashback sequence to a sexual assault which includes the use of a knife and some implied thrusting.

Discrimination

There is frequent use of discriminatory language, primarily the words 'nigger', 'negro' and 'coloured'. One character admits to a dislike of 'Hebrews' and there is use of the anti-Semitic slur 'kike'. There are references to lynching, castration and other racially motivated violence, and sight of racist caricatures.

There is also infrequent strong language ('f**k'), alongside milder terms including 'prick', 'bastard', 'ass' and 'son of a bitch'.
