MAGIC IN THE MOONLIGHT is a romantic comedy drama, set in 1928, in which an English stage magician is asked to debunk a young woman who is assumed to be a fake spiritualist.

Sex

In one scene, the magician tells a man, "How would I know we are not later going to get picked up for sodomy?".

The film contains frequent scenes in which adults smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol. These scenes reflect the period in which the film is set. There are references to a woman being followed by "a sinister Chinese", which is a reference to the man's stage persona. There is also a reference to "mental defectives" and occasional very mild bad language ('moron, 'hell', 'damn', 'God').
