LORE is a German language historical drama with English subtitles, based on Rachel Seiffert's novel 'The Dark Room'. Lore is the teenage daughter of a Nazi SS Officer, and in 1945 when her parents are arrested, she has to travel across Germany with her four younger siblings to try and reach their grandmother's house.

Injury detail

As the children travel around trying to find places to sleep in abandoned buildings, they come across several bloody corpses, including a man who has shot himself through the eye, with the wound shown in close-up as a fly crawls over it. There is also a body with a very bloody and possibly burned face, and a dead woman who appears to have been raped, with her underwear pulled down and lots of blood at the top of her thighs.

In one sequence, a couple have sex standing against a wall and there is close-up focus on the man grabbing the woman's bare breast as they grunt and move against each other. Later, there is an emotionally intense scene between Lore and Thomas, a man the children have met on their journey. He puts his hand up Lore's skirt, with her encouraging him as they stare at each other.

Further issues include some still black and white photographs of piles of emaciated corpses at concentration camps, which have been put on public display to show people what was happening near their town. The images are strong and horrific, but also very familiar in the context of a film about Nazi Germany. The film features some mild bad language in the subtitles, including 'damn', 'shit' and 'piss'.
