THE LOOK OF SILENCE is a documentary about the genocide in Indonesia in the 1960s and the repercussions it still has on the lives of citizens today.

Theme

Various people talk about their involvement in and experience of the genocide. Two men go into detail about the ways in which they treated and killed prisoners. This includes references to hacking the heads off prisoners and throwing their bodies into the river. They also talk about chopping off prisoners' genitals. A man talks about drinking human blood and cutting off a woman's breast.
