LIVING (IKIRU) is a Japanese drama about a bureaucrat whose cancer diagnosis prompts him to complete important community work.

Theme

A man is diagnosed with terminal cancer and there are verbal descriptions to his symptoms.

Sex

After receiving his diagnosis, a man goes on a bar crawl with a novelist, sampling jazz bars, a strip club and some ‘pick up joints’. We see a bikini clad woman remove a see-through wrap and couples swaying together, slow dancing. In one scene a woman counts her money in their cab and a man complains that a 'geisha' at a party was quiet, although there is no explanation of what the term means.

Threat

A man is threatened by a gangster who mugs him.
