LAD - A YORKSHIRE STORY is a British drama set in the Yorkshire Dales in which a thirteen-year-old boy reacts badly to the unexpected death of his father and gets into trouble with the police. He is later given a community service order requiring him to work with a long-serving national park warden. The film is rated 12A for infrequent strong language and moderate sex references.

There are two uses of strong language ('f***ing'). There is also some use of milder bad language, including 'arse', 'bloody', 'bollocks', 'buggery', 'Christ', 'Jesus Christ', 'shit' and 'sodding'.

In one scene a youth shows his younger brother a soft-core pornographic magazine. There is brief sight of a topless female model on the front cover, although her nipples are masked by stars Stronger images of naked female models in the inside pages of the magazine were removed in order to secure the 12A classification.

LAD - A YORKSHIRE STORY includes a scene of cigarette smoking but the film as a whole neither glamorises nor promotes the practice of smoking.

No-one younger than 12 may see a 12A film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult. No-one younger than 12 may rent or buy a 12 rated video or DVD.
