THE KNOT is a British comedy about a bride and groom facing various obstacles as they struggle to get to the church on time. It was classified '15' for strong language, sex references and sexualised nudity.
There are around 18 uses of strong language. This exceeds the level of infrequent strong language that is permissible at '12' but is allowable at '15' where the BBFC's Guidelines state 'There may be frequent use of strong language (for example, 'fuck')'. There are strong verbal sex references throughout the film, including comments about various sexual acts and sexual positions. The frequency and crudity of the references exceeds the terms of the '12A'/'12' Guidelines but is permissible at '15' where 'There may be strong verbal references to sexual behaviour'. There is also some sexualised nudity during stag and hen night scenes, in which male and female performers dance and perform fully naked. The nudity is insufficiently brief or discreet to be permitted at '12', in this sexualised context, and some reductions were made to the scene involving female strippers in order to achieve a '15' classification. Certain images were modified by reframing in order to reduce the scene's focus on female genital nudity. The Guidelines at '15' state 'Nudity may be allowed in a sexual context but without strong detail'.
The film also includes one brief sex scene and some soft drug use.
