KLER is a Polish drama following three priests navigating the corruption within the Catholic church.

Theme

The narrative explores the issue of child abuse within the Catholic church, including child sex abuse. There are verbal references to priests masturbating with children, and flashbacks to a boy lying in bed with the figure of an adult priest in the background, and a priest placing a boy's hand under his robes. During one flashback, a boy is pinned down on a bed and whipped by older boys. It is then implied that he is raped by one of the older boys, but the scene does not show graphic detail. The theme is handled in a sensitive manner, and does not condone the actions of the abusers.

There is use of strong language ('f**k', 'motherf**ker') and infrequent derogatory references to Jewish people. A scene of self-immolation also occurs, although it does not contain graphic injury detail. There is brief breast nudity, and a short sequence in which a man and women are shown enacting a sexual role-play scenario.
