THE KING OF MASKS is a Mandarin subtitled drama about an elderly street performer who needs a male heir to continue his art, and who buys a child as he has no heirs of his own.

Language

There is infrequent mild bad language, including 'bastard', 'shit' and 'damn'.

In one scene a man is cut on the foot by a falling axe and there is brief sight of a small amount of blood. There is also a scene in which a distressed girl deliberately cuts a rope and falls from a height. However, she is caught by a man and rapidly recovers from her injuries. In another scene, a young boy urinates. The scene has no sexual context. There is also a scene in which an elderly man is heard being beaten by policemen. The film also features scenes in which an elderly man smokes from an old-fashioned long wooden pipe.
