THE KEEPING ROOM is a drama about three women left alone to defend themselves in a remote house at the end of the American Civil War.

Violence

Several bloody shootings and brief sight of dead bodies with bloody injuries.

There is a scene of sexual violence in which a young woman is pushed onto a bed by a man, who then stuffs a rag doll into her mouth and rips her underwear before lying on top of her. There is no further detail, and the scene is brief.

Threat

Strong threat as the women try to defend themselves and their home from violent men in the middle of the night. There is a sense of sexual threat in some scenes.

There is also a single use of strong language ('f**k') and several uses of the word 'nigger'.
