KAHAANI is a Hindi crime conspiracy thriller about a pregnant woman who arrives in Kolkata looking for her missing husband. The film was classified '15' for frequent moderate bloody violence.

There are a number of scenes of gun violence, some of which include bloody detail. These include the point blank shooting of an old woman by an assassin and a gunshot to a man's head, resulting in a blood splatter and sight of the bullet wound. The BBFC's Guidelines at '12A'/'12' state 'Moderate violence is allowed but should not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood'. Particularly given the film's generally bleak and realistic tone, the accumulation of violence and the presence of these stronger bloody moments was more appropriately classified at '15' where the Guidelines state 'Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury'.
