JONAH HEX

JONAH HEX is a fantasy action drama about a bounty hunter who is offered his freedom by the US military in exchange for preventing a terrorist blowing up the country with his hi-tech weaponry. The film was classified '15' for frequent moderate violence, some strong.

There are frequent scenes of moderate action violence as characters are killed, usually offscreen or without much bloody detail. Many types of weapons are used, including guns, machine guns and knives. A scene of moderate sexual threat in which a man grabs a prostitute by the throat and points a gun at her head soon ends when she stabs him in the stomach with a knife, below screen. However, a few scenes are stronger in both tone and in detail. One scene in particular shows the bounty hunter being tied to a cross as men burn his house down with his family inside. He is then branded on one cheek. Although the scene transforms into 'graphic novel' style at the moment of contact, it is nevertheless a strong scene which shows the villain enjoying inflicting pain on his victim. The Guidelines at '12A'/'12' state that 'Moderate violence is allowed but should not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood, but occasional gory moments may be permitted if justified by the context'.

The film also contains some moderate sex references as a prostitute is visited by her client. There is no sight of sexual activity but there is discussion of payment.
