JOE is a US drama in which an ex-con takes a 15-year-old boy, the son of an abusive, alcoholic father, under his wing.

Violence

Strong violence includes characters being shot and an elderly vagrant being struck repeatedly over the head with a heavy metal object. The fatal assault results in a bloody injury to the victim's forehead.

Sex

Two scenes of strong sex include the brief sight of a man's bare buttocks as he thrusts into a woman in a brothel. Her body is hidden from view by his torso. In another scene fellatio is strongly implied by the expression on a male character's face.

Language

Strong language includes nine uses of 'motherf***er' and more than twenty five uses of 'f**k'.

Other issues include the gory sight of a dead deer being butchered and an implied and undetailed fight between two dogs.
