JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT is an action thriller in which a US marine, who has been injured in Afghanistan, is chosen by the C.I.A. to go undercover.

Violence

There are fight scenes featuring heavy punches, kicks, strangleholds and other blows. There are also shootings and stabbings (with blood on the knives, briefly). In one scene, a man threatens a woman, slapping her face and placing a light bulb in her mouth, before she is rescued.

Injury detail

Bloody injuries and burns that have been sustained by the hero, during warfare, are presented within a medical context.

Language

There is a single use of strong language ('f**k'), as well as milder terms such as 'bitch', 'screw' and 'shit'.

There is documentary footage of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, following the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

There are moments of moderate threat and mild verbal sex references.
