J. EDGAR is a biopic of J.Edgar Hoover, the founder and head of the FBI.
- Language
There is infrequent use of strong language ('f**k', 'c***sucker') as well as milder terms including 'damn', 'Jesus' and 'Christ'.
Scenes of moderate violence include shoot-outs between police and mobsters, without strong detail.
There is an implied mild sex scene as a man listens to an audio tape of a couple making love.
There is some verbal description of what happened to the kidnapped and murdered Lindbergh baby in 1932, and brief sight of a tiny skeleton half hidden by leaves.
There are several uses of discriminatory language ('negro') but the term is not used in a pejorative sense and it is simply reflecting the common terminology of the period in which the film is set.
