IRREVERSIBLE is a French film which depicts the traumatic events that occur to three friends over the course of a single evening in reverse-chronological order.

Violence

There is a rape scene in which a woman is attacked in a subway by a man. The rape is protracted and depicted in real time with subsequent sight of the man beating the woman as she lay on the ground.

There is a scene of very strong violence when a man has his face repeatedly bashed in with a fire extinguisher until his head caves in.

Sex

There are images of unsimulated sexual activity including sight of explicit oral sex and masturbation.

Language

There are frequent aggressive uses of very strong language ('c**t'), some of which are accompanied by violence; strong language ('f**k') is also frequent throughout.

There are uses of homophobic and racist language.

There are scenes of full frontal male and female nudity as a couple lay together in bed.
