INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS is a World War Two adventure, directed by Quentin Tarantino. The 'Basterds' of the title are a group of formidable soldiers led by Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt), on a mission to hunt down as many Nazis as they can.
The film received an '18' classification as it contains strong, bloody violence, including a number of scalpings of dead German soldiers, a man's head being repeatedly beaten with a baseball bat, a woman being tortured for information by her interrogator sticking his finger into the bullet wound in her leg, and a close-up sequence of a man's forehead being cut into with a knife. At '15', the Guidelines state that, "violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury," and it was felt that these sequences went beyond the '15' category in this respect.
INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS also contains a brief, comic sex scene and strong language.
