THE HOST is a science fiction drama in which the planet is taken over by aliens who inhabit the bodies of humans.

Violence

The action sequences focus more on people being chased than they do on violence, but there are occasional punches, slaps and kicks. Stronger moments include a man being shot in the head with a small blood spurt on impact, and a scene in which someone is shot in the shoulder with some blood seen on clothing afterwards.

Injury detail

There is brief bloody injury detail during a sequence in which a young woman must infiltrate a hospital, so deliberately cuts her arm. There is close-up sight of the injury, which is bleeding profusely. However, it is made clear there is a reason for what she's doing and that once she has gained entry to the hospital it will only be a matter of minutes before the injury is treated and completely healed using alien drugs.

Sex scenes are limited to kissing rather than any suggestion of actual sex, and no nudity is shown. There is some use of mild bad language, including 'pissed', 'hell', 'ass', and 'God'.
