HANNAH ARENDT is a biopic about the political theorist and philosopher Hannah Arendt. It focuses on the period, circa 1962, when she was commissioned by The New Yorker magazine to cover the trial in Jerusalem of Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann. The film, which includes some subtitled German and Hebrew dialogue, is rated 12A for moderate language and sex references.

The moderate language comprises two uses of the term 'whore', one contained in an abusive note that reads: 'Damn you to Hell you Nazi whore'. Very mild language in the film includes infrequent uses of the terms 'God' and 'damn'.

The film also contains infrequent moderate sex references. In one scene a character describes a famous novelist as "nothing more than the premature ejaculate of the 20th century". In another scene a character says, "Every time I write a sex scene I have you horribly on my conscience."

HANNAH ARENDT, which is set primarily in the 1960s, includes smoking throughout.

There are also references to the Holocaust throughout, including at Eichmann's trial.

No-one younger than 12 may see a 12A film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult. No-one younger than 12 may rent or buy a 12 rated video or DVD.
