THE GUVNORS is a gangland thriller, set in and around a housing estate in South East London, in which gangs representing different generations come into violent conflict.

Violence

There is strong violence throughout. Some large-scale brawls include crunchy kicks and punches, but little is seen in terms of blood or injury detail. On a couple of occasions characters have their faces slashed with a craft knife: blood is seen to flow but there is no discernible injury detail. The strongest scene shows a gang forcing their way into a flat and beating an elderly man to death. He is first struck with a baseball bat, before receiving a crunchy head-butt to the face. Several kicks and stomps are then delivered, below frame, and blood is seen on the victim's face.

Language

There are around eighty uses of strong language ('f**k'). There is also moderate and mild bad language, including uses of 'arsehole', 'bitch', 'bloody', 'bollocks', 'pissed', 'prick', 'shit', 'twat' and 'wankers'.

Other issues include a single brief scene of cannabis smoking.
