GOODNIGHT MOMMY is a German-language horror thriller about a mother's relationship with her sons following her facial surgery.

Violence

Strong violence as the boys torture the woman, including burning her cheek with a beam from a magnifying glass, and setting fire to a room from which she is unable to move, resulting in her being completely enveloped in flames. The boys also superglue her lips together and then clumsily cut her mouth open with nail scissors, resulting in blood spraying all over her mouth and teeth.

Threat

Strong sustained psychological threat throughout, including some nightmare sequences which employ horror images such as a boy cutting open a woman's belly and cockroaches crawling out. There is also threat which builds up to acts of violence, in particular the boys tying the woman to her bed and questioning her, with the woman terrified they are going to hurt her. This threat culminates in a series of violent acts.

There is also some brief non-sexualised nudity in a couple of scenes in which the woman undresses.
