THE GOOD LIE is a drama about Sudanese refugees who are relocated to live in the USA.

Violence

There are scenes in which soldiers attack villages and massacre villagers; however, any injury detail is limited. There is also a scene in which two men fight, which features blows to the head.

Disturbing images

There is sight of dead bodies floating in a river, and a scene in which an injured man is seen with deep cuts on his leg. There are also scenes showing dead children, although there is no injury detail.

Drugs

A refugee smokes a marijuana joint that he is given by two other men. The drug use appears to make him more emotionally unstable.

There is some mild bad language ('bullshit', 'crap', 'assholes', 'pissed', 'screw', 'goddamn', 'hell'), and a scene in which a woman leaving a hotel room is given her bra by a man, implying that they have previously had sex. At one point, an exasperated woman asks "Who do I have to screw around here [to see an immigration official]?", although the comment is frustrated rather than literal.
