Note: The following text may contain spoilers

GHOST IN THE SHELL is a sci fi film set in 2029. A team of cyborgs tracks down a mysterious intelligence that is affecting the information network. The work was classified '15' for strong violence.

There are several moments of strong violence, including sequences in which cyborgs are torn to pieces whilst mounting attacks on the enemy. The BBFC's Guidelines at '12A' state that 'Moderate violence is allowed but should not dwell on detail. There should be no emphasis on injuries or blood, but occasional gory moments may be permitted if justified by the context'. The scenes noted above and other similar scenes were felt to go beyond this limit and thus more appropriately classified at '15.'

There are also images of nudity, with the cyborgs often seen naked. There is focus on their breasts but the effect is mildly titilatory only and not overtly sexualised.
