THE FROZEN GROUND is a thriller set in Alaska in 1983, based on true events. A young prostitute escapes from a serial killer, but police only believe her story after more victims are claimed. It is rated 15 for very strong language, strong sex references, sexualised nudity and hard drug use.

Strong language ('f**k' and 'motherf***er') is used frequently. One use of very strong language ('c**t') is delivered by a man to a young woman, but it is made clear that the man is an unsympathetic character and the language illustrates his lack of self control.

Several characters are prostitutes and there are strong verbal references as they talk about their work. There are also scenes with breast nudity as some of the characters perform as strippers and dancers in a pole dancing club. Their lives are portrayed as dangerous and seedy, not glamorous.

There are scenes of drug taking, including smoking crystal meth from a glass pipe and snorting lines of white powder. Drug use is not portrayed as desirable or very pleasurable.

While the film is about a rapist and serial killer, the focus is on the fight to bring him to justice and not on the murders themselves. There are references to sexual abuse and violence, but when the killer is shown shooting a woman, it is seen from a distance without sight of blood or injury. When several corpses are found by the police, the decomposing bodies are shown only briefly, without dwelling on gory detail.

No-one younger than 15 may see a 15 rated film in the cinema. No-one younger than 15 may rent or buy a 15 rated video or DVD.
