MARIA LARSSON'S EVERLASTING MOMENTS is a Swedish period drama with English subtitles, following the life of a wife and mother in the early 20th Century who finds a means of self-expression through photography.
The film was classified '15' because it contains one use of very strong language in the English subtitles. A man is talking about a group of strikebreakers, previously called 'blacklegs', and at one point he refers to them as "those bloody black cunts". Very strong language is not permitted at '12/12A.' In this instance, it was felt to be acceptable at '15' rather than '18' because it is not said aggressively or directly to the people he's talking about.
The other issues in this film would have been containable at the '12/12A' category. Much of the plot is about Maria's alcoholic husband Sigge's abusive treatment of his wife and family, but we never see any strong violence (just hear some off-screen) and the theme of domestic abuse is handled sensitively.
