Note: The following text may contain spoilers

EFFIE GRAY is a British period drama that follows the life of John Ruskin, the Victorian art critic and patron of the arts, during the few years he was married to Effie Gray.

Sex

Moderate sex references include a scene in which it is briefly and discreetly implied that Ruskin is masturbating as he lies in bed next to his wife. He stops what he is doing when he realises that she is sill awake. Other sex references refer to Effie Gray's virginity and the fact that her marriage to Ruskin was never consummated.

Other issues include very brief and undetailed male nudity, observed from a distance, as a man bathes in a lake. Very mild bad language is confined to infrequent uses of 'God' and 'damn'.
