DUNKIRK is a wartime drama about the Allied evacuation from Northern France in 1940.

Threat

Sustained threat occurs throughout, including intense sequences in which characters are caught in life-threatening situations as they face gunfire, explosions and the threat of drowning. There are also sequences in which they become trapped in confined spaces. Sound and music heighten the sense of tension, with emphasis on the desperation of people fighting for survival. However, the threat is contextualised by the historical event being depicted and focusses on the bravery, resourcefulness and camaraderie of those involved.

Violence

Scenes include aerial dogfights, shootings and people caught in explosions and a fire at sea. Blood and injury detail is limited and discreet throughout.

Language

There is infrequent strong language ('f**k') and use of milder terms including 'bloody', 'pissed' and 'shit'.
