DOGTOOTH is a Greek language film about a couple with three grown up children who live together in an isolated house. Only the father is allowed to leave home, convincing his children that the world outside the house is deadly. The film has been classified '18' for its incest theme and brief real sex.

The real sex occurs as a pornographic video is watched on a television screen. Brief shots of fellatio are seen. Later we see two young adults engaging in foreplay, during which there is brief sight of masturbation. Both scenes were contextually justified within the narrative and DOGTOOTH is not a work whose primary purpose is sexual arousal. The brief real sex is used to establish the unusual and dysfunctional lifestyle that results from the isolation orchestrated by the dictatorial father, including incest. Therefore the scenes accord with the BBFC's Guidelines and policy at '18'. The film also includes strong sex scenes without explicit detail.

The film includes some scenes of violence perpetrated by the father. He beats a woman who has displeased him and one of his own daughters. While the beatings are impactful they do not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury.

The films also includes a sequence in which a cat is attacked with a pair of garden shears. We see an initial pounce as the cat is caught, followed by an aftermath shot of the dead animal. In order to satisfy our obligations under the Cinematograph Films (Animals) Act 1937, detailed assurances were sought from the film makers. These revealed that rubber shears were employed and that no animals were harmed.
