THE DIRTIES is a Canadian drama, filmed in documentary style, about two teenage boys who are making a film about getting revenge on the bullies at their school.

Language

Frequent strong language throughout, including 'f**k', 'motherf**ker' and 'c**ksucker'.

Violence

Strong violence in a scene showing a teenager opening fire in a high school, with some blood splattering back onto the wall. The documentary style of the work adds to the impact of this sequence. Other violence includes some punches thrown in fights in the school corridors, and a bully slapping another teen hard in the face during a row in the canteen.

Threat

A strong sense of threat builds up as the audience realises the school students may be in real danger of violence.

Other issues include brief strong comic nudity as a teenage boy makes his friend laugh by revealing his scrotum sticking out through the front of his underwear, and some scenes in which teenagers pretend to snort fake cocaine in a scene from a feature film in which they are acting.
