DIE HARD 2 (1990)

DIE HARD 2 is a 1990 US action thriller about a police officer who battles a renegade special forces unit who have taken control of an airport. It was originally classified 15 for cinema release in 1990 after cuts were made. The cut version was subsequently classified 15 for video release, also in 1990. An uncut version of the film was later classified 18 for video release in 1992 and for DVD release in 2008. This cinema re-release is rated 15 for strong language and bloody violence.

There are various scenes in which men are shot, resulting in brief blood spurts. There is also a scene in which a man is stabbed through the eye with an icicle, including brief sight of the icicle sticking out of his eye socket. Elsewhere in the film, there is a scene where a man's throat is cut and blood briefly pumps from the wound. There are also extended fight sequences that include headbutts, repeated heavy punches and kicks. The scenes of violence occur within the context of an action adventure film. The hero only uses violence in order to fight for his survival and in order to save the lives of others. The violence is not sadistic and does not dwell on detail.

There are several uses of strong language ('f**k', 'motherf**ker' and 'c**ksucker'). There is also moderate and mild bad language (for example, 'bitch', 'son of a bitch', 'shit', 'asshole', 'ass', 'pissing', 'crap', 'hell', 'damn', 'goddamn', 'Jesus' and 'Christ').

The film also contains several scenes in which the hero and others smoke cigarettes or cigars.

No-one younger than 15 may see a 15 rated film in the cinema. No-one younger than 15 may rent or buy a 15 rated video or DVD.
