DER TODESKING is a West German drama, from 1989, in which a succession of characters contemplate suicide.

Suicide

Suicide is a theme of the film. A character takes his own life by swallowing pills; another beats his head against a wall. There are visual and verbal references to suicides by hanging, jumping from a height and gunshot.

Violence

A character is tortured. Another, on a killing spree, shoots multiple concert-goers.

Injury detail

A torturer severs a victim's penis with garden shears, in close-up detail.

There is strong sex, as well as male genital nudity.
